Crown of Glory

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.” John 15:4

The crown chakra lies at the very top of the head, two inches above the cereal cortex. It is the place of (truly) knowing and abiding in Christ; the place where we say, “yes” to Him daily and live in His joy. It is through this “yes” that we begin the journey into true freedom and understanding. It is s the place of knowing hat He is for us (Romans 8:31), and believing that He will transform us into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18).

The crown chakra is a dynamic place. In it we learn to trust, abide, revere, and surrender. However, it is also the place we process logic, reason, knowledge and beliefs. Dysfunction in this chakra comes about with over/or under intellectualization, over/under religiosity (legalism), and attachment/avoidance. When we intellectualize God, we make Him into an idea and thus become a slave to the need to be right. This closes us down to real transformation befog we can begin. It is the same when we become over-religious, dogmatic, and legalistic. likewise, when we under intellectualize, the temptation to believe in the irrational blocks our way to transformation. We stop fact checking all sides and gravitate only towards those who think the way we think. This is a dangerous place to be for it, too, leads to the slavery to needing to be right. Attachment and avoidance become problematic because they block our ability to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the great transformer (Hebrew 12:2). When we intends focus on a close relationship with God, and most importantly, trust that He is doing a good work in us (Philippians 1:6), we find our crown chakra opening. This is what leads to transformation in the rest of the chakras.

As our crown chakra opens, it is normal to have plenty of questions, and to notice a multitude of personal issues. This is the fruit of connection with God and diligent self-examination.
